TIMBALAND KNOWS THE WAY
This week has been pretty rough. It just seems like it’s been one thing after another after another. Not neccessarily with me, but with those around me. Sunday and Thursday seemed to be the worst of it. So now that I’ve had a shitty week, I need to turn it around so that there’s not a repeat of it.
I think I got my fafsa information back this week. I got on the Columbia website, and according to that, I only got about 3,000 dollars worth of aid. Which means I’m going to have to take out WAY more money that I thought. So here’s the question: Is it justifiable? My assumption is that I would only have to take out this extreme amount for one year, and then I would be eligible for other kinds of scholarships within my program. But I don’t know… I mean, I’ve never been to real college, so I guess I’m not sure how that works. I think I’m going to try to go up sometime this week or next week for a visit so I can talk with a financial aid counselor and see what can be done. Hopefully.
In other news…
I’ve been reading a bit more recently, now that I have a bit more time. I just read Persepolis and I just started The Audacity Of Hope. Persepolis was really good. It’s a graphic novel about the Iranian revolution told from the viewpoint of a young girl. It was really interesting. Kind of depressing, but good nevertheless. The Audacity of Hope is really interesting, too. Obama is actually really funny in the way he writes. Sarcastic and witty. I enjoy it a lot. A few weeks ago I found another book by Elie Wiesel (who wrote Night). I guess it was actually 2 books: Dawn and Day. It’s the Night trilogy, so it was all three rolled into the same book. It should be really interesting. If I can get Eric to let me borrow The Modern Mind, I’ll hopefully be starting that this week. I couldn’t find it at Barnes and Noble or Borders. Also, there are like, a thousand books by that name, so I need to find out the author. But I’ll probably just see if I can borrow it… then return it in the summer to him. ;]
Friday night was Allison’s birthday dinner at Shogun, which is always delicious. I tried fish eggs and an Iowa City roll. The IC Roll is gross. The taste is good, but there was just something about it that made me gag. Donny and I split a lot of delicious food. Spicy tuna is gross though. But Spicy Maki spectacular.
After dinner we went to see Baby Mama with Tina Fey and Amy Poehler. It was awesome. Steve Martin was in it too, which was hilarious. “I’d like to reward with you 5 minutes of uninterrupted eye contact….” haha.
Yesterday was pretty impulsive. I got up in the morning to go to that Starbucks job fair, came home to change clothes, had lunch with Becca, and went to Sam’s Art Lab for a tattoo. I hadn’t planned on getting it yesterday, just to talk about what I wanted and set up an appointment. But she wasn’t busy and seemed pretty excited about it, so I went ahead and did it. I don’t regret it, although I’m pretty sore today.
After that, I met up with Ashley and Tk and we went to see Driver of The Year at RIBCO. It was a pretty good time, despite the fact that the only men I seem to attract are married.
So, there ya go. Nothing too interesting, but my last post was lame as hell.
Have a good one.
