ALL THESE SQWUAKING BIRDS WON’T QUIT

I spent my two days off this week back in Davenport. I saw my family and feel a lot better. Nate is doing great, looks great and is really happy. He heads back to Pendleton next week, then from there, we’re not sure. He’ll probably be deployed shortly after that. But, he’s happy, and I’m so proud of him.

Matt is doing about the same. He had an appointment with an eye doctor last week, but they’re still not sure what the next step is. I think they’re going to wait another week or so to see if his eye heals up on its own.

I also went to see Deb. That was really hard. Deb and I have never had the best relationship. I kind of get the feeling that she resents me for something, although I’m not sure what reason she would have. I babysat my cousin for her one summer, but, after that, things between us got steadily worse. She has never treated me the same way she’s treated my brothers. Anyway, I tried to go with my dad to see her, but our schedules didn’t work out at all, so I went to see her before I left for Ames on Friday. She was in the ICU, which was weird in itself. There aren’t rooms, just curtains, and everyone is either asleep or in agony or ventilators. Deb was on a ventilator and highly sedated, so I don’t even think she knew I was there. I didn’t think it would be as hard as it was, so I ended up leaving really soon after getting there.

Anyway. On another note.

I started my tech classes yesterday. There are a million different formulas, including one for figuring out a doctor’s DEA number, which is the sum of the 1st 3rd and 5th number plus twice the sum of the 2nd 4th and 6th number minus three times the sum of pi plus your maternal grandmothers age, jump around twice, then do a shot of Jager.

Oh! I also just noticed that everyone I know is getting married. I know three couples who are getting married next summer and at least two more who will be enagaged by May, presumably. I also know three couples who just had babies. So, I’m starting to wonder when I’ll get around to having kids.

Sorry so short, but I needs must get ready for work.
